has a partial bypass system, but not a bad thing at all. As opposed to my previous WM Commander which was a complete bypass, 1st the Kohler and then the blower.

Noticied what felt like pressure drop using my upholstery tools and my stair tool on a couple jobs. Steam was forming in my solution line, machine was set to High. Switch to Med for my stair tool, ahhh solid water, and Low for my upholtery tool, Solved. 24 hours on the Hobbs, proving to be a solid design for a single wand guy.

If I stop working and talk to a customer or something, I can hear in my vac hose the bypass sending water to the waste tank. I think I use more water with my Rage than any other TM I have owned. I might route the bypass to my fresh tank.

My old prochem bruin did the same thing. When it got too hot it would dump the HX into the waste tank. Makes me think in 20 years that things really haven't changed much in the designs of TM.

Hated when I had to move furniture and then knew my exchangers were dumping.

Things like this don't bother me all that much. I figure if it puts out hot water when I pull the trigger, I'm fine with it.

Of course, I don't have to wipe my ass with baby wipes when I take a sh%t either, so I may just not be as particular as the rest of you flowers.

Would an automotive-type exhaust cut-out, as sold by Jeggs, (electric or manual), work as a diverter to bypass the HX?

Connect an electric cut-out to your thermostat or control the volume of exhaust with a manually-controlled cut-out.
