Getting more commercial jobs?

Curious on how some of you go about getting commercial work? We do tons of resi but our commercial work is seriously lacking! Need some ideas on how I can drum up some more business on the comm side. Any input is greatly appreciated!

Its sucks but you have to ask for it. Make cold calls on the phone send a letter and try to meet with them. Rick G has a great blog loaded with tons of great info. Check it out.

The phone and door to door, mainly the phone. Some mail/email for follow up.

I figure we want around 6-8 touches year by something.

I cold called it for 1.5 years. I recommend you try that so you find your strengths and weaknesses. Now, I seek a referral reference. Look for someone who can introduce me; I push that hard.

The challenge with commercial marketing is someone has to physically do it. Not like an adwords/print campaign where you press a button and get in front of X number of people.
With commercial a person has to contact X number of people

Yes you can bring in some work from internet, direct mail, but its not going to be huge.

Get a list of local businesses within 5 miles of your core service area.
Start calling on the phone and knocking on doors. Its that easy.

That sounds like a good plan. My wife actually started putting together a list of local businesses. I sure do hate cold calling though. Might have to pawn this job off to the wifey.

From the looks of it you might be better off.
