Wool carpet. Leak from radiant floor heating system. Result is glycol (like anti-freeze) and rust on a wool carpet. 8 days since the leak occurred.

HWE and encap have been tried with limited sucess.

Would appreciate any suggestions.

Acid prespray, maybe even chemspec browning treatment, undiluted, to treat rusty water stains, rinse with neutral detergent and repeat untill you can no longer see any improvement. Speed dry and apply browning treatment once more. The glycol should rinse out unless it's colored. Last step, maybe a peroxide solution.

Glycol is inherently colorless. However as noted, it is often colored. It is an effective solvent that can keep contaminates in solution and leave them concentrated at the edges of the spill.

The "rust" is a mix of minerals, very different from our typical contact rust stain.

Because "like removes like" I'd try SLX alcohol first...carefully.

Clean with a strong mix of Releasit Encap-HydrOx. If colored stain remains, treat with CTI's Red Relief for wool, followed with another cleaning using Releasit Encap-HydrOx. If rust is persistent, you might very cautiously treat it with a mild dilution of CTI's Rust Away, and rinse quickly.

Caution: These chemicals are NOT normally recommended for wool. But keep in mind, the damage to the carpet has already occurred, and this should help to improve things. As long as it's NOT a bright colored wool, these chemicals should help correct the stain. But use caution to test for color-fastness, and carefully inspect the fiber as you work on the stain!

Believe glycol may be like a dye-setting agent so strip colour out ( Sodium Metabisuphite or Thiourea dioxide )and spot dye back to correct colouring
