Can anyone recommend a good acid rinse that will not build scale in my waste tank, or at least not as much. Our heater is sometimes over the 200-230+ range atw and I want to make sure the heat won't be a problem in using a certain type of acid rinse that can upper the scaling rate in the tank.

Would prefer one w/ a low dillution rate, not the 2-3oz per gallon types if possible.

Thanks,
Bill

I'm confused. I thought acids tended to descale everything. Several folks have even reported their jet filters getting plugged when switching to an acid rinse because it descaled everything and the debris ended up at the wand.

Do you know of an acid rinse that leaves scale buildup instead of removing it?

And besides, you are extracting (usually) pretty strong alkaline presprays. The acid rinses are weak enough that the net mixture recovered will still be alkaline.

We use to use a lot of acid rinses and it created what appeared to be barnacles on the inside of our aluminum waste tanks.

It didn't affect the stainless steel tanks so I think it's a acid/aluminum reaction.

That could be what Bill is describing as scale. ???

I ordered some Cheismeister's (not sure correct spelling) Action Extraction. It says on the label to not use above 200 degrees. When I called the company, they told me it is best to not use the product over 200 degrees, some guys were getting good results and others who went over the 200-220 range would need to descale their waste tanks due to the excessive heat causing scaling build up in the tank. When I mentioned that occasionally the heat could in fact go over 220 at times, I was told to not use the product. That's what I'm referring it to.

You may call the company up to find out more, they were very nice on the phone, and I ordered the product to give it a try.

Currently I'm using the 02 rinse which works great, and I like the dilution ratio on it, just thought I'd give this other product a try as well.

Liquid high heat not sure about scale build up though

http://chemspecworld.com/catalog_browse.asp?ictNbr=209

Designed for today’s modern cleaning equipment, Liquid High Heat is a one step cleaning detergent specifically formulated for high heat truck mounts that produce heat in excess of 200 degrees F. Polymer based technology, acid side cleaning eliminates the need for an acid rinse step and encapsulates soil to reduce re-soiling after cleaning.

Cleaning with Liquid High Heat will not cause browning and is completely soluble in hot or cold water. Using Liquid High Heat in your truck mount or portable extractor will neutralize the alkalinity from pre-sprays while you clean. 21st Century cleaning technology, Liquid High Heat contains no dyes, is biodegradable, low VOC and will not clog jets or screens.

When you use Liquid High Heat you experience exceptional cleaning and non re-soiling properties. Liquid High Heat actually encapsulates sticky soils making them easier to remove while you clean and allows vacuuming after cleaning to be more effective and easier.

How acid side cleaning works: While most soils are acid and traditional cleaning methods use alkali detergents to neutralize acid soils for easy removal, acid side detergents work by pushing acid soils away from the fiber. When a cleaning detergent has a negative charge higher than the soil, the soil is pushed away from the carpet and into the solution. When a cleaning detergent has a positive charge higher than the soil, the soil is pulled from the carpet and into the solution.
Advantages to acid side carpet cleaning detergents: •Automatically de-scales solution / pressure lines.
•Allows polymers (encapsulation products) to be added in high enough
•concentrations to be effective at high dilution ratios.
•Eliminates browning/yellowing problems due to alkalinity.
•Eliminates the need for acid rinsing.
•Stable in consistent temperatures above 240 degrees F.

I have never heard of a acid rinse causing scale in the "waste tank"
