We used rubber/steel braided hoses for a couple of years after Eaton (Synflex) left the market. Whatever good comes from rubber hoses doesn't compare to the pain of their high (and often unexpected) failure rate, high heat transfer and weight. We buy new hoses with our trucks and typically sell them with the truck. Lead whips get ends repaired, and maybe once in the life of the truck a lead whip gets replaced. Nothing else ever fails.

Toss those teeny hose reels and just roll your pressure line with the vacuum hose. It doesn't take up any space on the big reel.

Thanks for the reminder. My Big Red hose reel had brackets where the solution line was stored.

A sharp knife? Come on, that aint happening! I cut my last one with a hack saw and it took at least 15mins to get it right. If you post a vid. of you cutting Neptune with a sharp knife I will send you $100..

Sorry I was not able to get this til this morning. My first attempt at posting a video as well....

dude...

No F'n way.

I triple checked with our maintenance manager and he says it might be closer to 5-6 years though he does know we have some out there that are at least 10 years old.

Brian I think that's different hose that what we are talking about. That appears to be the hose that comes with the Butler units. It's not the Goodyear Neptune that is wire braided and for the most part won't have the same issues with it. Although it can get cooked from high heat if left spooled on the reel, especially if you have the high heat Butlers.

The other hose doesn't even hacksaw very well, not re-buildable unless you have the ends pressed at the hose shop.

Of course it's not the same as the hose everyone is talking about. It is a Goodyear Neptune hose though and Keith said he would give me $100 to cut through a Neptune hose. It's not my fault he didn't clarify what type....

We have used that steel braid Neptune in the past and didn't like the performance. We did use cut-off discs to cut that hose.

If we could only get Harper and the Harperetts there, it will be for the ages.

Unless, of course, Bawb is bringing Green Gurl with him. Rumor has it, they're inseparable.

LOL, FCC wouldn't be a consideration in my decision... I put $10,000 aside for this winter and it is dwindling quickly. I think $20,000 is the sweet spot for winter here..

There is no sweet spot. Every year I put more away for the winter, and every winter I use all of it...

Back to the hose. Tell me more about this "other" Neptune hose. I use the braided stuff. I've had black death twice and now I just replace after about a year and a half.

I started to buy some stuff from Greenie and he said with my tiny white magic hose reel I wouldn't like it and should just stick to the Goodyear but I assume this other Neptune must work OK on live reels since that's what Hagopian runs, right?
