I've talked about these before...basically a paid Google Places ad.

They just started it in my area and I signed up...it's a pay per click...we'll see what happens.

I'll let you know how well it works.

No they didn't offer it.

I got a tag free for thirty days...but I've had that for a while.

You?

Where is it?

I Googled, carpet cleaning mckinney tx and didn't see it.

Yeah its bugging me

Google this

Carpet Cleaning Mckinney

The TX screws it up because of the competition for that keyword...that's my best guess.

I couln't ever find it in Places.

All I could find was a plain Map listing.

Are you getting screwed?

Maybe you bought anti-boost.

Ok, It isn't what the beta version for San Diego was about a year ago...so I am a little off.

It basically puts you in the adwords area with a blue marker...it says that it "might" be listed just above the places listings but I haven't seen that yet.

So it's really more like a paid listing (location) with a places twist IE: You can direct it to your places account or website and pick Google keywords (only had carpet cleaning and upholstery cleaning available) and you are seen on the map with your blue marker instead of red.

You can watch it in your Places dashboard and all that.

So it's generally showing at the top on the right paid listings. We'll see if it's worth it.

I think they are attempting to make Adwords more user friendly by letting you access it through your Places dashboard.

Seams reasonalble as a business tactic for Google to me.

I always say, Make it easy for your clients and you'll have more clients.

Update.

I've had it going since I posted this thread and it's not doing great. The area I have it in is fairly small compared to Dallas so I didn't expect it to hit hard but I was hoping.

I think most people hit the places ads first....shows that you need to have a Google Places ad.

I will still keep it up because it's a pay per click so it doesn't cost anything to not get clicked. lol

It will help with name recognition overtime...at least that's something.

Don't give up hope just yet, Brian. I hear Harper is gearing up his wife, kids, two cousins and an uncle plus three employees full time to do nothing but repetitively click on your new pay-per-click listing! He wants you to be on fire again! Your listing may set a new Google record!

PS So Brian, have you ventured much into the targeted paid ads on Facebook? The news yesterday about a 26 year old geek worth 6 billion dollars being name TIME's Person of the year got me to thinking about it all over again:
