I noticed that some business that have no website, are listed well above others that have a website. What information is Google maps using to determine the order in this situation.

Where do I start?
If you fill out your Google Places account 100%...and do it right...you should do fine.

There's a couple of "tricks" that Google doesn't frown on.

Time is a factor as well.

It's all about having web cred.

Build your cred and get ahead.

Most fail to do this.

Be smarter that the other guys.

Hey Frank,
I have to admit that's a pretty cool front page you have on your site.
I think it relays to the customer what to expect.

It's simple and even goes against some of the basic "rules"...but I still think it's good for the customer.

Good job.

Thanks.
I just got it up and still need to finish some things. I'm really liking the wand
effect. I'm thinking about delaying the "stroke", and slowing it down a little.
It would be cool to add a steam effect to the wand also.
I wanted a simple, clean site. Nothing I hate more than a site that seems impersonal, and looks "too busy".
I am curious about the rules I may be breaking. This is one area I may actually trust your opinon on. shiteatinggrin

You can get a lot of help by searching " improve google places ranking"

Mainly it now comes down to building local web credibilaty with reviews and citations.

There are various ways to get reviews and different kinds of citations.

Build a few of each every month as you climb to the top. (Like Me)

The basics are for getting to the top are the same

'Cept, Reviews are now more important than ever.

Also,Websites are not important for visabililaty.

Since local Maps and general website listings are are rolled together now.

In looking at it some more, it seems that Google reviews are not the only reviews being factored into the results. It looks like they also factor in reviews from Yelp, Citysearch, and other directories. Reviews do seem to be the most important.
I'll have to hurry up and get some! !gotcha!
