Greasy Lotion

Got a call because a client's child just dumped a whole bottle of Cetafil lotion on the carpet. It is for eczma and it is very oily.

Just curious if there is any trick to making sure it is removed completely. Or is just a light prespray and a really good rinse.

I had her remove all excess off with a spatula and lay towels on it until I could get there.

Any tips from you pros would be great!!!

ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Cetearyl Alcohol, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil (Macadamia Nut Oil), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl acrylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Polyacrylate, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ceteareth-20, Stearoxytrimethylsilane, Stearyl Alcohol, Benzyl Alcohol, Farnesol, Sodium PCA, Panthenol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide.

I have no idea if any of those chems will bleach a carpet
(Like acne cleansers can)

Sodium Hydroxide is lye or caustic soda. Since it is use on skin and the last ingredient I would think it is a very small amount.


If it is poly carpet it will drink the oils.

May make permanent darkening.

Nylon should be less of a problem.

Just use a degreaser/solvent.

You can even use some isopropyl alcohol you likely have some at home.


The good thing is it will easier to get it out of carpet than microfiber.
