I told the crew to walk from this nightmare. Would anyone of attempted to remove all this grout from the tile and if so, how?

Jebus, I know I wouldn’t touch it, but am curious as to how one of these other guys would approach it......

Had a friend just do a job exactly like it. He made $700 removing the dried on grout that the installer goofed up.
The owner was desperate and realized the only alternative is rip up and replace.
I'll ask him what exactly he did.
I think he used a OP machine with a bristle head and a grout cleaner. Not sure if he followed up with a spinner tile wand, but I'll check with him and report back.
The grout install was $5,000 and the owner withheld partial payment to remediate and salvage the floor.

I have used a non-fuming acid on stuff like that. Phosphoric acid based concrete brightener of some sort.
That will dissolve the excess grout. Scrub with a semi-soft brush and flush easily. Do NOT use muriatic acid, the fumes will blue anything chrome.

Just rip the floor out and re do it.

grout release and lot of hands and knees scrubbing in small sections and its not easy.

Ive walked from a couple, one it had mounds of grout on top of porcelain tiles. Grout is kinda like concrete so imagine removing it without damaging the tiles. I told them the honest easiest thing to do is just rip the tiles out... it was a small 30sqft bathroom and the mounds were an inch high in some places rock hard.

All these reply’s with STRONG acid... is there not a concern about damaging the tile or grout lines? Serious question....

thats why I say sponge on your strong acid, you can have more "control" over it, make sure you know your product and NEEDED PPE

few tile installers here I know use hydrochloric (muriatic) on every single install for productivity, know what precautions/ventilation is needed before starting

Some good recommendations above.

Had a similar problem years ago. I used Vinegar and it worked just fine. Just a thought.
