Hell if it were mine, I'd put it in the washing machine, cold water with a mild detergent on gentle cycle and hang to dry, block it out if it looked like it wanted to curl.

Take care,
Lisa

I would just give them a quick call in the mourning and ask how they recommend cleaning.

If we were concerned about curling or distortion, we would hand clean on a table with a Sapphire tool. Hang dry.

I agree with Lisa, if it were mine I'd wash it BUT being the clients I'd surface clean unless it was contaminated, then you have no choice but wash pit or machine wash.

Pastels are usually pretty safe. Pastels from the eighties have probably been cleaned before so even less of a challenge. You can wash it or clean it with a wand or hand tool.

Just to close this.

I ended up just dropping it into the washpit and gave it a nice hose down with the glided 20 flow greenhorn without the vac hose hooked up. Acidic side water.

Just pushing thru lukewarm water and flushing it out. It was SHOCKING to see how much yellowis/brownish water kept coming out of it. It didn't look dirty at all when we got it....

Extracted it slowly with and same greenhorn. Hung it to dry with blowers along with the other 9 rugs that were worked on at the time. No blocking was done or needed.
