Well, This woman's adoreable snookums dumped an entire bottle of "slime" in his bedroom and it formed a 5" hard plastic cake on the carpet. The carpet is 1/2" shag, and the dried slime makes it look like plastic shredded wheat.

Anyone have a suggestion for softening and cleaning this stuff?

I would pinch off a piece and drop it in warm water. I had a huge blob from one of those stretch toys. I tried different things on it but after dropping a bit in warm water it simply dissolved. I've never seen slime but if it's water based then water should break it down.

Mark, any idea where you can get just one can? I'd love to have some but all I googled up were cases (I'm sure you buy it by the case!). I just need one!

I had seen one place that had just a can for sale a year ago, but not lately.

The price for case in my opinion would be worth it to have on the shelf and in the van. You won't go through a ton of the stuff, but there are some days you might really be happy you have it available to you.

Just a place form Amazon, but I haven't done a lot more research to find it elsewhere today....but will keep looking....

Also make sure you look that you are getting a full case of 12 cans for the price being offered...some of the offers for a little cheaper price are only 6 cans....

Toy Slime is mainly Guar Gum, a thickener.
It is insoluble in most hydrocarbon solvents.
Hot strong acids will cause hydrolysis and loss of viscosity,
and alkalies in strong concentration also tend to reduce viscosity.
I would try some heated Rust Remover, and a very high pH chemical like oven cleaner on separate areas.
Use the one that performs the best

Mark how does it smell. I'm always leary of aerosols. I had a great one back in the day but boy did it smell up the house. I can't take it anymore, I've gotten to sensitive. Plus most homeowners don't care for the harsh toluene type of smell.

Actually,

It does not stink up a place ....it does have a smell
but don't really use too much of the product all at one time it seems.

I like how it kind of gel also once sprayed on the spot....

We have not really had a smell issue I can recall though....

I will spray some tomorrow in a confined area to get a better idea if I can describe how it is....

I found the label , xylene and acetone. Been a while since I've smelled xylene but if memory serves me it was nasty. Maybe the gel keeps the stuff contained.
