Hats, okay, as long as they are branded with your business and not filthy.

Shorts, nope. Too many issues with burns from brass fittings, open cuts and chemicals, etc. A nice pair of Dickies are not that hot in the summer.

I could never wear a T-shirt under a work shirt, however.
