I'm trying to ad my info to Thumbtack. They're asking my to

Promote your listing
If you have your own website, add a link to your new listing.
Earn 30 points! Your service listing will also show up higher in Google.
Copy and paste this link to your website:

Click here to notify us about your link. We'll ask you for a link to the exact location of the link you added. Once we verify your link, you will be awarded Thumbtack points!

I don't know what (or how to) "add a link to your new listing". I don't even know what that means. Plus, I wouldn't know how to tell them what the "exact location" of it was/is.

Can somebody explain this to me in terms I can understand?

Thanks,
James

Hi James,

What they're wanting you to do is add a link to their website onto yours. In return they're promising to list your website in a directory or listing. Exchanged links(is what they're purposing to you) aren't as powerful as one-way links, but can help. The big downside is having to display the link to their website onto yours.

OK, I just don't understand how to " add a link to their website onto yours."

I don't know how to do that.

I'll admit freely. I don't know squat about this stuff.

Usually they'll give you a code(or the html) to copy and paste onto your webpage. You would put it on a page, preferably at the bottom to be as discreet as possible.

Probably looks something like this:
Code:
[url="www.somedomain.com"]Free Link Exchanges[/url]
or
Code:
[url="www.somedomain.com"][img]www.somedomain.com/image.jpg[/img][/url]
