We cleaned this customers house the other day and she had this white spot appear after it dried. She said it was moist for a while, yet we only lightly sprayed the entire carpet as it wasn't horrible dirty using 20oz. of Encap 02. The same way we clean every other type of carpet and have never seen this happen before. We went back yesterday and extracted the spot with a Fiber Rinse PH Neutral and it reappeared again. She said she's previously cleaned her carpet with a rug doctor and the spot never appeared. What could this be from?

Is it color loss?

Could she have spotted it with an Oxyclean type product? Those types of products damage color and it doesn't become apparent until after we clean.

I just called her after you said that to ask and she said yes, Rug Doctor Oxyclean with oxygen booster is what they used. When they cleaned it the carpet was wet for about 6 hours before it dried (with the Rug Doctor). She still had the bottle under the sink.

If its damaged the color there is little hope. Someone with skills like Tony Wheelwright could fix it but for most of us schmucks its done.

She ruined it not you. You only exposed the damage she did.

Have her call her homeowners insurance and see if there is any coverage. ????

Another option would be to section out the area and replace it with a closet or other scrap she may have.

Looks like a great place to put a potted plant. :errf:

Did it look okay damp? And then came back after dry?

If it's not color loss(seen it many times from home owner oxy products), could it be her cleaning residue? If you hand scrape the fiber can you see powder in the air?

It looks like she/they spilled the bottle or dumped it right out of the bottle...:hopeless:

Encap with a fan and run???

If it is not residual but a dye loss, as the carpet re-soils it will "fix" it. :winky:

An area can be re-dyed, but it is large enough to be a hassle and you'll need to know how to blend it in, to avoid a ring. Needs experience and is time consuming.

So is my 370 but I still wouldn't operate it on top of carpet.

Iwas a porty hack once, I know how often they overflow.

Just like a TM, they can spew foam and muck for a long time before you notice or they shut down

Thanks for all the info, we are going to attempt to extract that spot using the waterclaw and pure water and see if it will pull out whatever shit might be in the pad causing it to come back. If not, her fault. Both of our cleaning supply vendors I contacted said exactly what everyone on here did, so I can back it up with that. She even sent me a pic of the Oxyclean bottle.
