I've heard of those for houses. Does a system like that make a noticeable difference compared to the standard water softeners? Is it difficult/expensive to install one of those systems in a van?

Not much of a different. Installation is a little tricky but if we follow instructions, it won't be that painful.

No. But I thought someone would want to know the chemical, and some might be curious about the portable pictured since it is quite old (1970). Notice I didn't mention what the truck mount brand or model was.

I was hoping someone would draw a conclusion that using a cleaning chemical in your machine has some benefit. You must not have went to the two web pages to see the pictures that back up such a claim.
