Large Screw driver wedged in is one way, but they do make large "easy Outs" that would fit. Would start with that if you can get to the hardware store.

Have had it happen a few times on things.

Easy out is like a reverse looking drill bit with knurls on it. Let me know if you need a picture and I could try and find one in my shop quick.

Easyout works well. Any hardware store should have it. I think Harbor freight even sells them. As Mark says in digs in and makes removal a breeze.

Dirk is that the solution outlet manifold? What broke off?

Lots of belt suppliers sell brass for the hoses they sell. Dultmeirs (Omaha) and Windtrax (KC) are both probably 1-day ups to you.

It's a manifold...no Idea what it's called. lol.

I had to remove the damn brass fittings cuz I dropped an orifice into the manifold when I was descaling.

One place I found online for a pic of easy outs.

I bet if you go to ACE they will have the correct brass pieces you can make something work. I have had to do the same. Might take a few more pieces to make what you need, but you should be able to be up and running with in no time

Mark

Sorry....was going to post pics faster, but 2 calls rolled in at the same time for carpet cleaning.....on a Saturday calling to schedule....thank goodness!

If no easy out around, use the screw driver trick. Might need to tap it with a hammer so it will bite good

Can you post a pic of the broken part so we know what you are trying to simulate? I might be able to tell you what to find at the hardware store to make it work.

That brass always breaks off at the thread. I'm surprised you haven't had this happen several times by now. I have new brass break off just tightening them up for the first time. I keep an easy out on the truck and a few brass fitting for on the job repairs.

The smaller hardware stores are great. They will usually have someone who begins to own your problem when you walk in the door. Maybe it's because I'm in Iowa but I'd go into my tiny small town hardware store and I bet it would be fixed when I walk out. Your probably in a similar spot Dirk? Glad to hear your working it out.

Be careful if you use the easy-outs like Mark posted. As you turn them (to the left), they wedge themselves further and further into the broken piece, expanding it. If the piece is stubborn and doesn't break loose, you can turn it in so far it expands and splits the manifold (ask me how I know this). Penetrating oil is your friend.....
