I’m not sure if it’s a price thing or a marketing tactic. And what I mean by that is the guys I see in my local area are very busy. They stay two weeks out, fully booked.

Now, I do know they are a per room company or companies. But is that what helps?

I went by the sqft and did not feel like I made much per room. I can’t seem to stay busy with just cleaning. To make ends meet, I do small restoration jobs. But I would like to get out of it and solely focus on cleaning.

I’ve started to invest on my website and hope to see growth in the organic side of things. What are your thoughts on stuff like this? Or how can I implement more cleans and stay busy? There has to be some magic potion like the guys I see on all these FB pages lasting 2-3 weeks booked.

There is no magic potion. It comes with hard work and advertising smarts. You need to be visible in your community. For commercial work, you have to reach out to property managers, real estate agents, etc. You have to knock on doors and make cold calls on commercial premises.

I have fallen back since this craziness. I’ve got to jump back on the cold calling train.

Always, but that’s the point I’m making. I have been doing it for the past 4 years. Yes, I do get work and very thankful for it.
I don't pay enough attention to my online presence bit I still get people finding me. I had a customer the other day to posted a question on Reddit as to who was the best carpet cleaner in his area. 2 people recommended me. No idea who they are. I also have people recommending me on their Facebook groups. It takes a little while. I could easily double my volume of work but I'm too lazy.

Contrary to popular belief, pricing can have something to do with it. I stay extremely busy but I have noticed if I raise my prices too much it does seem to slow things down. It really depends on your area and cost of living. I'm on the east coast too and the prices and cost of living are much lower than some areas so getting .55 a sq. ft. is out of the question. Even the rich folks in my area complain about 4 rooms for $185. Just have to figure out a good price point for your area and do top notch work so you earn those referrals.

And the ability to charm the middle age mommas doesn't hurt either.

After awhile it just kinda happened, our winters have gotten shorter and shorter, I have someone who handles our website and AdWords, which both do well. Also SM fill my schedule has been a nice easy automated marketing system. Hell this year since the covid shutdowns ended we've been consistently been losing work that we can't get to. We are a slightly above average room priced company

Fill my schedule has worked wonders for my business. My customers thank me for sending those and sometimes they call to apologize, lol if they don't schedule during the 6, 9, 12 month reminder cards. If you're not sending out reminder post cards, that's why you're slow

Your state is going through a COVID wave and the citizens may be reluctant to have people in their house.
Wear a mask always while in their house.

1st Be very self Critical. Are you striving to improve always?
Your main goal should be turning the customer into a cheerleader for your business WITHOUT asking them to be one.
People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.

Charging by the room gives the prospect a better idea of what the costs will be before they invite you to their house.
We charge by the "area", which is a Hybrid of room and sq ft charge. our area of cleaning is about 120 sq ft.
we do not measure and just eyeball it to give a fair price.

More than likely the have a steady base of clients to work with. This will take time, lots of it if this is what you are banking on.

Imo, you should be making way more charging for the entire room(per foot).

Yes, you need a website and should be working on getting it found. Maybe the fb guys are one man shows. With a nice base of repeat custys, should be some what easy for one to stay busy.

What is your target demographic? Marketing techniques should reflect your demographic and where they look for services

high end works on referrals from neighbors, house managers/keepers And word of mouth. Professional networking groups where you can develop relationships are the best way to get to these folks. It takes a lot time to build trust and a reputation in this market.

if you target move outs/ rentals....Facebook yard sale sites.

commercial.....you need to develop relationships with property managers.

are you marketing to your existing clients with reminders.... email, text and follow up calls? Your more likely to get previous customers to buy from you again.

As others have said there is no Quick fix. It really depends on HOW you want to grow your Business....annd even knowing that there is not a one size fits all way to go about it.

Yes, I have one now. But I am having the company work on my SEO and blogging. In Orlando, it is flooded with CC. It's so easy to start one up around my neck of the woods. I'm doing what I can to stay ahead of the game.
