I have never seen anyone clean like that. It kind of defeats the purpose of a scrub wand. I think you'd be much more productive with a drag wand and would need a second dry pass if you are going to one stroke it.

We fire guys for cleaning like that. They just are not flushing it well enough.....but its ok for you guys. :eekk:

Im going back today to clean some VCT.

Bringing the Cimex to deal with the wicking.
Lockheart wanted to try the RVXL. He soaked the shit out of the sand embedded gluedown so he and Ron went over it and over it with a wand to deal with the immediate wicking/browning. The site tube on the RV and the wand never went clear.

One of those situations where you're better off cleaning as lightly as possible.

He said he really liked how the XL cleaned the glue down. It does look lightly soiled. If kids aren't on their hands and knees I'd probably Cimex it all. If it were younger kids class rooms HWE. We rarely use our drag wands but if moisture we a concern we would. That looks like an excellent place to use the Zipper! :icon_cool:

We do the same thing but much shorter "walks". Your supposed to stop when you see stains or heavily soiled areas and use the scrub wand.

Wide open areas like that an rx20 would be used, for us anyway.

We have several Steam Genie drag wands from the 70's, Interlink improved upon the design with some nice features. I've not tried one but if you didn't want the back and forth motion of the Zipper I'd try one of these. Personally if its more than moderately soiled I'd want the Zipper.

i notice that no one "cracks" the wand at the baseboard to create a vacuum vortex to clean the crack.....?

and WHO walks on the cleaned carpet to clean a cubby hole that shoulda been cleaned first?

perimeters first.....then work to the middle...
then out the door....jeeesh!

It's simply amazing how fate can place you. You can take two equally dumb-assed guys and place them in the same profession and one will stumble into the correct wand stroke and the other will stumble his way into a completely illogical stroke that has no practical utility.

And the only difference between the two is one is normal sized and ugly and the other is a giant and ugly.

I was surprised how good all the carpet looked today.

One entry transition area needed about 4 inches wanded. One roim, not the RV'd one, looked a bit splotchy so I spent 5 minutes Whitner the Cimex.

HWE with a Cimex THE NEXT DAY really is the best and ultimate method. Can you get a customer to set two days aside? Will they pay?

we use the same stroke as Ron and Loc..cept it's not a mile long ...no reason to keep kicking hoses on every stroke
But it's the same stroke..straight back and straight forward dry stroke .
the soil level dictates the speed of stroke

The correct and logical stroke is the one demonstrated by the big ugly. Once your stroke gets beyond more than about 3 feet (max), you lose your "feel" of the carpet. In other words, you tend to move across those pits and pings in the floor without feeling them and pausing long enough to extract or dry them. The only problem with Mikey's stroke, in my not very humble opinion, is he goes too far before going back over the area with a dry stroke. I really don't think it's very wise to leave it in it's wettest state for very long. All that overspray and jet track moisture is just sitting there soaking in and taking dirt in with it.

I WAS happy to see that his wand was overspraying just as bad as mine does. I was quite surprised to see Mikey leaving jet tracks. That's something no experienced professional should do.
