Greg C. mentioned in another thread that now is the time to capture new customers abandoned by companies that are going out of business.

But, times like these spawn new cleaning businesses because it is inexpensive to get into, and many people that are out of work(a job) will be jumping in.

What is it like where you are?

can't say that I know....I see the new vans and the new names out on the streets but I really pay no attention to much of any of them.....

There's no telling how many people have portables with full time jobs that clean carpet on the side. With that said there has to be many thousands of people in this area that clean carpet for profit in one way or another from janitors to full time carpet professionals.

The established companies that go out you need to take their customers. The new guys don't have any yet and as you know in this business many won't be standing in a year

You can always tell who is going out of business or struggling by the craigslist ads. Not so many going out in this area. I did just buy out a company owned by a friend that went out of business because of back issues.

Realize that we are in our "PEAK" season here in fl....

I am seeing quite a few of the "traVeLeRS"....Guys that were driving 45 minutes into
MY area....Have VANISHED...!

They are NOT on the roads anymore & did NOT renew in the Y-Pages...
I percieve that their Desire ....to expand their Customers Base...Was a Failure....!

Most were over-extended...&...have LOST their equipment...

The FINAL dagger comes as they DESPERATELY....follow the gUrU'S MYTHS...and take
the last remaining CAPITAL they can scrounge-up...&...LaUNch a foolish marketing camPAIN..

The ReaLItY is...Postcard's,Flyer's,Service Majik,BNI,5 arounds,Cold Calling,Y-page ads,
Websites,Google Ad words,& Disty sponsered business plan's....ARE THEIR LAST HOO-RAH..!

"Firing all of their reMaInInG bUllEtS"...at a Ghost Client...WITH EMPTY POCKETS..

The sucessful companies...realized 2 years ago...that we were heading into a recession..
These companies built there CASH RESERVES....&...DOWNSIZED.... :wink:

The STRONG will always SURVIVE... :!

I have YET ...to read an article, from an Industry GuRu or Distributor....WARNING or advising
"their client base"...to tighten their BELTS & hang-on.... :!:

Although we are over a decade removed from using Bane Clene equipment, we still get Bill Bane's mailers from time to time. He's usually right on the money about weathering bad economic times.
