How many watts needed to run a mid sized porty?

Lets do it this way

How many watt generator would a body need to run a 1 cord port

how many for a two cord?

Well, Lar....I used a 5000 watt gen to run my Steamway Ultramatic. It ran 3 - 2 stage vac's, a 500 psi Cat pump, and a pumpout. 5000's are pretty reasonable, and you can use it at the "Farm" when the power goes out! Or for your power tools at those rat nasties that don't have power. Mine was an old Generac, 1 cyl. , 12 HP, B&S., with electric start.

Yeah a 2 cord porty has the potential to draw 2,400 watts on each cord. (Assuming each cord needs a 20 amp circuit). A 3000 watter would be plenty for a 1 cord porty but would be not quite strong enough for a 2 cord.

RW, I have Porter Cable 6600wt (5500 continuous running) genset for the "farm" :mrgreen:

I was curious if one of those small portable gensets would get it.
