How To Get Dried Paint Out Of Carpet

I have been more then a few rooms I seem to be coming into,
I really don't have a good spotting kit. I have a custy asking if I can remove long dry paint. I have no idea if it's water or oil base. Is there something I can do in a pinch?
I have a nice wallpaper steamer.

For dried latex paint I use goof-off (xylene) it will delaminate the carpet so be careful. For dried oilbased paint a good pog from your supplier should work. It also can delaminate the carpet. Remember, the customer owns the spot. Don't buy it from him

We used to use Goof Off. The last time I got a Screaming Head ache, so now it's scissors or a patch fresh paint is fairly easy to deal with. When a customer calls and says they've spilled a little we tell them keep it damp with damp Paper Towels and some Saran Wrap over the top.

My bane wand probably any scrub wand reomoves a lot of the excess paint.

Im not sure why but my prespray mix of prozyme plus and osr really loosens up a lot of paint too. Ive stripped paint off metal with it a couple times accidentally.

Hav-em call the painter back .. more times than none it takes up alot of time customer not willing to pay for. I may give minimal effort to paint drips in traffic areas but never bother with edges. Ive had my share of being high from solvent fumes and dealing with tack strip etc...

Offer service for $2 a min .. then get some paint remover then go to town. Try not to pour actually do not pour the solvent on carpet. You may dissolve the glue that holds the fibers in place. You can use the gel type of solvent but I seem to remember the residue is hard to remove. Could be wrong.

I prefer acetone to anything with xylene. That's some brain destroying stuff. I use an old rust remover container and suck it up as I go. It puts out a really fine stream. Really thick paints not worth the effort. I have a video if you really need it.

I had a restaurant that wanted to save money by painting themselves. They then wanted to save money by fixing the paint spills by themselves. They actually painted the paint spills to blend in. And no, it did not look good.

I dont mind if theres an accidental spot or 2 but theres no excuse for a sloppy painter. If its only one or 2 I will remove with a solvent but any more then that I tell them to let it dry in their paint brush and then try to remove it, because its not coming out.

Pretty much. If the crb does not dig it up I put a little citra gel on it and make sure you hit it with the hottest water. If none of that works some POG. As a last resort cut it out

Acetone and scissors. Goof off is scary stuff. If it's bad, call back the painter. I always say it's like trying to clean a dried roller- not a paint brush.

Statements like that put you at a disadvantage. Don't be your own enemy.

Make sure you ventilate when you mix portable n solvent use. Unless you want to be high !!

Not sure of the extent of the paint, I really hate when I leave somethings behind, paint, red stains, even wax. It's all up to how much damage done

This is what we use. Pro Solv Gel, bone scraper, scissors, white towel and your truckmount

prosolve gel has worked quite nicely for me. Get the little carpet shark scraper. Tt will help scrape some of it loose too. Give it a shot. Tell him it will cost $X for you to try but you do not guarantee that it will work. Then he knows going into it that it might not work, you get paid whether it works or not.
