Well, seems to work great! Get 2x4 and swing for the fences...LOL Watch out for woodwork and other obstacles...

Spacers are used prior to grouting, while the thinset dries.

they're supposed to be removed*..........Marty is saying there are probably broken stubs in the spaces



*they do have leave in spacers

I run into spacers that were left behind internally ( or not) that get exposed after cleaning. Especially if scrubbed and or high psi was used.

Ill patch the hole+ with fortified grout, if they so desire.

Those levelers are supposed to break off near the back of the tile so you should never see one in the grout. Not sure if the 2x4 method is the reason for Fred's second picture.

honestly I wasn't even aware of the break off leveling spacers




a 2x4 seems a much more efficient method than the nike shuffle at 2:22 in the above vid
