I'll try an lend a helping hand.
Like Lisa said, get the variable 7" grinder (jimmy will sell his cheap), and then throw the stock "velcro" drive pad away and use the FLAT SMOOTH one that comes with the kit, it's the one for use with self adhesive sandpaper disc.
Then buy some Industrial Velcro, Lisa and I used this, it was the best I've ever seen, "normal" velcro ain't gonna cut it.

If you are super nice maybe John or Patty will sell you a full square piece before it's cut round, so you can make more than one pad driver down the road, cut and piece works here.
Then use some CONTACT cement to stick it, in case you aren't the handyman, you brush on a coat to the back of the vecro and a coat on the smooth drive pad and let it TACK UP for a few mins., then CAREFULLY line them up and roll the velcro carefully onto the gummy drive pad, you only get ONE shot at this. Let it fully cure overnight.
Gorilla glue will work in a pinch, but it's not as good, I used it mainly to repair a feathered edge later as the velcro wore.
Then, get some of those 8" Tuway bonnets but NOT the ones with the green stripes, just the REGULAR all white ones, you will only use one side of the bonnet for about 50 chairs, don't flip it.
IMPORTANT technique note: "feathering" the trigger is the key to making the variable sander wok well, resist the urge to stay on the trigger, or you'll launch juice and bonnets.
And no matter what ANYONE tells you, do not get the "hand mit" type bonnets and try and cut them and separate them in two halves, this is a big no no, it will SHRED. just buy a small box of the regular 8" bonnets they will make you thousands in their lifetime.
Then get some Xerion (xerionsolutions.com) and have at it, once quick spray and one guy buffing and it's 30 sec. a chair like Lisa said.
I suspect that
Hydrox from
Releasit (
excellent supply) would work well in this application too, but I KNOW the Xerion works, just don't over saturate, it's not HWE. a little xerion goes a loooong way.
