how's every body's winters going? Feb's been, um, terrible for me so far, but January was really good (added for self-esteem boost.) Goal for '08, get more contract commercial!

January and February have both been bad. Only a couple jobs.
I've been working on fliers and post cards.

Res is all but dead

empties are spotty "at best"

Never did much com
(we all hate working evenings and nights)

Rehabs are the only thing keeping us busy right now

However, the current ones we're working on right now were bid "close to the vest" so we'd have work to stay busy this winter.

My profit margins are razor thin on these ones.
Fortunately, we're finding some repairs/damage that's not part of the original spec sheet.
I'm making a buck here and there extra on materials and labor because of the additional repairs

I am doing a average of 4 a day.......................

most of the time 1 or 2 are new clients..........

excluding today due to a big cancellation. things have been rolling pretty good.........

keep in mind i don't have the harsh winters most everyone else has and we work year round..........so that does make a difference...

Dead here for residential. I'm working mostly on gaining commercial accounts right now. Not enough of those either, but hey, I'm new again.

good

Our January sales equaled 25% of last years total sales. Last years sales were almost double the year before. Should be a great year.

My winter is going JUST GREAT....Plenty of time for:

Tweaking equipment,

Motorbiking when the roads are dry,

Swimming at the hot springs,

Getting stuff done on the project cars,

Reading...just finished 'The Four Hour Work Week,' ...almost done with 'Founding Brothers' and 'The World is Flat.' I would recommend all of them.

Doing a few dry-outs,

Traveling a bit...Just got back from Surfaces in Las Vegas a couple of weeks back.

Oh...and a few carpet cleans along the way!

Plan ahead

We start marketing for Jan & Feb back in Nov and we have had record months. Get a plan together for next year and start courting commercial accounts before the slow times get here. If your slow now start hitting the market for spring time now! If you plan ahead you can offset the slow times

Slower than Breviks sex life.

Much like his sex life....I have to play with my own carpets just to do a job.

Never had a February like this before.

Mostly happy, but running about $800 behind last year.

Almost the same number of jobs.

Lined up a couple of fatties today for next week, so things will be changing.

It's week to week up here, although it's been steady.

Can't complain though, some of the guys that have been at it longer than me up here are slower than me , so that's a positive sign.

Just regular monthly work is up 100%. Jan. and Feb. have both been very good to me, and March should be ok. I can't wait to see what happens when I actually launch my marketing campaign. :D

Not good in NE Ohio. Seems the cold weather States get the "shaft" in the Winter months, the Southern, warmer climates get the "elevator".

Last year was great in Jan and Feb due to chillin' weather, freezing and bustin' pipes.....lots and lots of WD. That lasted through the spring thaw.

New customer biz is way off. Only running one big YP ad this year and it doesn't come out til April. So, I don't know if it's that, the weather, the economy, or... :?:
