Got called to a flood . Sucked some water out and pulled pad. Land lord didnt wana pay for drying equipment. She acted insulted when I told her the amount to drop a dehu and a few airmovers. I guess she can do better with her k mart box fans and 30 yearold ge woodgrain dehu. Meanwhile her tenant and tenants kids pay the price by living in mildew smelling apartment with wet walls because the slumlord wanted to save a few bucks. Every water job I take seems to make me hate wdr work more. I respect you disaster guys for all the bs you gotta put up with day in and day out.

I once was looking at doing more water damage work,,, I hear it's lucrative.....

It's not worth it for me.

That's tough, but yes you'll see it a lot with property managers.

You could sell your jet and just use NetJets like everyone else in the restoration industry does. And golf at public golf courses closer to home too....

And exactly what is wrong with picking up a few of those wood grain Sears dehumidifiers anyway instead of those expensive blue things?

I gotta few likr that. When they have a back up or flooding problem, they call me and want me to "just suck the water out". I try to avoid them by saying I am booked solid with a resto company I work with. When I do help them out, I try to explain the importance of getting everything dry asap. They just look at you and shug......it'll dry. I always put a disclaimer on the invoice that I wasn't there to rectify the damp carpet, just extract the water, and that no way was the work I did WD restoration or done to industry standards.

I try to avoid.

You are probably better off to have just extracted the water and pulled pad. It sounds like the land lord wasn't going to let you dry it properly, complain about the cost and then bitch if it was not dried to standard. I think you avoided a lose, lose situation.
