Today was repair day...only had one job but it turned out great! A good way to stay working through the winter when there is a foot of snow on the ground and people want to reschedule...

Nice work. I built my business around restretching, patching and dying. Now I don't do any. Never could do Berber. I still carry the mini but rarely use it. I don't miss it one bit. Getting to old to be on my knees that long.

I used my Kool glide like twice(bought in 2011 I believe),and rocked it out both times!! Looked great, though I didn't want to do it.. I would have to be more efficient to make any money..

Thank you everyone! I really do enjoy doing repairs. My husband taught me well!
It's actually easy to learn, mostly common sense and having a steady hand when making your cuts. The Kool Glide makes it so much easier too. I couldn't imagine doing it any other way.
For those of you who want to learn, I highly recommend it, it's a great money maker and in the winter when the cleaning slows down the repairs don't.
Stretching is obviously trickier but once you get the logistics down, it's easy to figure out.
And yes @Lee Stockwell when you don't have a donor you can take it from a closet and put something close in its place. If the patch is really small you can pull a piece from under the baseboards, you'd be surprised how much carpet you can get from there, especially if the carpet wasn't stretched in during install.

My pops taught me carpet repairs and even taught me how to install... My knees aren't cut out for that...

The big thing now is laminate repairs... That's where the money is...
