Last year I made a kindly but stupid business mistake; in an effort to keep my elves fed, I paid out their gross percentage without setting aside the withholdings.
Don't do that. It has taken four months to set aside those taxes, but today the check went off to fund the richest government on Earth for one one thousandth of one second.
What grinds my gears is that the elves will get their share as a refund, effectively giving them extra free money. I will not get those withholdings back for the company.
Q: Why are we required to withhold before the employees hit their exemption threshold?
A: Because it fills the government's coffers and I am scared of large men with guns.
On a bright note, I had to turn three customers away today.
