Green Cleaning As a Critical Component of Cleaning for Health
This short seminar will focus on the types of chemicals, equipment, and processes that are available to assist consultants and building managers in choosing the right approach as well as specific advice for custodial staff and restoration/remediation contractors looking to improve their cleaning efforts while reducing their environmental impact. The topics in the presentation include:
• What are the primary differences between regular cleaning and cleaning for health?
• How are the changes to the LEED building certification program impacting the green cleaning trend?
• Is the material safety data sheet the best way to get information about the safety or risk of a chemical?
• What are some of the newer pieces of technology that are being used for high risk situations such as infection control?
• And much more...

Hydroxyl Radical: Hype or Reality?
How do these machines work, what should they be used for, are they effective, and are they safe, are all questions that building managers, indoor air quality consultants, and cleaning/remediation contractors should have answers for before they put such a device on a job site. Information is provided to understand the scientific principles of hydroxyl radical generators. This will assist in deciding if such a device is beneficial for the application as well as develop appropriate protocols for their use.. It will answer the questions:
• Are there different types of generators and how do they work?
• What aspects of indoor air quality control, cleaning, or restoration work are best suited for hydroxyl radicals?
• What are the perceived risk of using such equipment?
• Are there any industry guidelines or regulations related to their use?

Michael A. Pinto, CSP, CMP, is chief executive officer of Wonder Makers Environmental, Inc. He has authored over 150 published articles and several books including, Fungal Contamination: A Comprehensive Guide for Remediation.
