Our AT is just a little over 1 year old now, and its still running perfectly!
I would but another any day... but that can change if something equally powerful but more compact comes along... Change can be a good thing!

Kevin,
Put me in the Vortex camp. Over the years of running truckmounts, being close to the builder or distributor of my machines has been so very important. Living less than an hours drive (usually) north of Preferred & McDowell, now Jon-Don Seattle North and Jon-Don Seattle respectively, has been a wise decision. By the way, the distance from Spokane to Seattle is 280 miles.

Since loyalty and support between a customer and a local supplier is so important, we didn't really check out the AT that much.

Let me say this, if you really want to be the best you can be and offer that to your customers, make it your goal to own one of these "HILINERS", be it Vortex, AT or something comparable. We brought our new truck up to Puget Sound country just in time for this summer. Time after time we hear "the carpets look cleaner, they dry quicker and it takes you guys less time." Right there, their telling you that truck pushed your cleaning ability to a higher level, and what other machine has the heat, water flo, vacuum and storage capacity for waste & fresh water as well as hauling equipment as these kind of trucks.

I hear all these negative things about these trucks. Their too big. When I hear that, I'm sorry but I think of a little twirp. We live in town. Small lots. I work out of my home so I turned the back yard into a parking lot. The garage takes up about half the width. We park a 1 ton van, a TES trailer, the Vortex and a cabover box truck. We come in from an alley. Do you get the picture? They will make even a twirp feel like he's a good driver.

Or I hear you have that big truck but there's no room for anything else. We have the duel waste tanks and we have all kinds of room for dehu's, air movers, cimex, T&G equip. and still have room to pick up rugs.

Again remember, you have to want to be the best you can be. You might have to change the way you do things because your going to have to bring in enough money to justify this machine. You might need to get more work or find more duel wand jobs. You might have to step out of your comfort zone.

You hear time after time, athletes say a lot of the game and results come from your mind set. These trucks and the results they give can make a guy have more confidence in his work, give you owners pride, a new found enthusiasm, and better outlook on the future.

I don't know about you, but I would hate to buy a fancy new van and equipment and be doing a job and have someone with a Vortex or AT pull up to my job and open his doors.

Each machine has it's plus and minus, AT really needs a single big waste tank and Vortex really needs to have a option to insulate the box

AT would rubber mat the floor for me instead of Rinolining it, Vortex at this time really doesn't seem to want provide something that isn't on the options list

Isn't the floor on the new votex rubber? insulation & auxiliary heater in the box is a must for some I'm at a loss why V doesn't offer insulation ?

as far as service i don't think there is a huge difference between the two trucks one would think that local service for vortex could handle most ..maybe not all AT issues...IF any?

I hate the placement of the heat exchanger on the AT

I love my distributor now. I rarely buy outside of them, I only have a few products they don't carry that I like, in which I buy from somewhere else.

As for my machine, I don't know if I would buy a V or an AT without my distributor being local.

First of all, Seattle is 280 miles. In a V, over the pass in winter, would SUCK. I've taken that trip many times, and I have had it taken me 12 hours in some situations. I can always make it to spokane.

I must say Pat nailed it for owner op types.

I hear it a lot, "I don't need the bigger toys, but it gets me excited again, all this stuff has brought back the fun of cleaning carpets".

Anything that gets you back into the game thinking positively is worth the investment, you just have to make the numbers work.

If you're going to stay on the truck (or stay in the office) you have to keep things interesting.

Just today, I walked into a church account of mine to clean, and the old guy (every church has one) who's always there "doing things" said "you clean on Saturdays, too? I said it's just another cleaning day, but thought to myself...

After 20 years of doing this, I still like doing it, and it still beats cutting grass and washing my wife's car on Saturdays.

Chuck I became a Judson shill when I became Judson Canada. Working closely with Les, his brother Dick and his father Judson I am heavily involved in the design and assembly of the prototype and subsequent production units.

I make no apologies for it and I am not hiding anything.

Seems odd to me, and forgive me for only having 18 years of experience in manufacturing, but I don't understand somethings...

While it IS easy to to design work remotely, how are you involved in assembly being on the other side of the continent??? Are you traveling or just another fibbin' KENuck...

Chuck - quit busting my balls!

I am currently building one of the prototypes in BC.

We are going to be assembling units to be sold in Canada in Victoria BC.
