IICRC relevance to your business?

I believe I know the answer to all the classes other than the Restoration classes.

What is the percentage of business that you receive is driven by you being certified by the IICRC?
Do the Insurance companies demand it?
I have several successful Restoration Companies that don't do any insurance work.

Please enlighten me

We hold classes to educate our customers. It also brings them into the store.
Helping educate the customer is something that I've done successfully for over 35 years.
We do classes outside of the IICRC classes that I believe do a better job in making my customers successful.

We train methods of cleaning along with the proper products. We can show the students how to do the task and what specific products to use.
They can see the results
Providing education in the hopes that there is a demonstrated value to the customer and they will buy products and services from CMS.
It's a win-win

Mine expired a few years ago when those dorks couldn't get it right then.

I reluctantly sent a new tech there for his WRT about a year ago. I asked to upgrade to a company certification but they never answered me. All I'd have to do is send them some money.

Geez their business practices really annoy me.

Overall, they aren't important to me at all.

Ive only been asked about the iicrc a couple times in ten years. I still got the jobs even though im not certified. It has zero relevance to me. Im not a member nor will I probably ever be. I dont see the value in it.
Classes are a great thing but most of my customers dont care about certifications.

Its relevant in that we attend classes. However we attend them for the education not for the patch or certificate suitable for framing. With or without a certifying body such as the IICRC we would still attend training classes.

We still support the IICRC and hope they get their shit together but it has zero effect on our day to day business. People choose us for who we are and what we know, and what we deliver. Not because we wear the same patch that the competition does.

Ray, I have supported the IICRC for over 25 years even though I have received very little of value for that support. I have learned a lot through the people I have met at the classes as well as some of the instructors. I would like to see it mean something in the marketplace but I am losing confidence that it will ever happen.
