I have a small ozone machine left over from when we did water/fire damage. I let customers use it occasionally. Usually it is for a piece of furniture that has an odor in it. I put the piece in the garage, tent it and run the ozone machine as necessary.

Got a call from a customer that will be getting a leather chair from a relative that has a smoke odor. Was wondering if ozone is safe on leather?

I've never heard of ozone harming leather. Reminds of a customer who just bought a new Jaguar and wanted me to remove the smell of leather from it. Pretty hard to do without removing the leather seats.

A couple hours should be fine

but ozone will damage leather over long periods or at least that is what I've been told. I've never witnessed unlike the hundreds of ruined rubber moving bands/straps I've seen.

Ozone will dry leather over time. I'd recommend cleaning first, ozone saturation, conditioning to restore the moisture in the leather.

Chances are it needs it. Most people ignore leather care.

Make sure the leather is well & truly DRY, before using the Ozone in it's confined space.
