I spoke with Rick from Sapphire about the very thing at MF 10. He spoke highly of the PC unit, he used to build them for many years. The PC is a good unit.

Rick's main selling point for the 570 basically was do you want old Mike Roden technology or current Mike Roden technology.

Liquid Cooled Kubota ( bullet proff ) engine

General Pumps...( not cat pumps )

Gardner Denver triflow blower.........

its is a great combination and makes a great machine...

we messed around with it a bit at MF...while running a Hoss with high flow jet bars and with the needle valve wide open..we flushed out the carpet and it held 225 at the machine...
dry times are great...could not ask for better........

a well built..well balanced machine....

How easy is it to drain the oil from the blower on the 570?

nothing to it...
back side hangs over the mounting plate....easy access...
front side sits over the mountimg plate but there is a good size notch in the plate that allows easy access to the drain plug.........

Jim are you saying general pumps are better than cat pumps? What if any difference is there? Thanks

There's a lot more Apexes on the road than 570's. So, their track record is more significant and proven.
From what I understand, the Apex has one of the better track records, at least that's what the mechanic at my supplier told me when I was trying to decide which unit to buy. According to him, these machines hardly ever came back to be repaired.

I'd hate to have to fix anything on either of them. (Here's where the required insult on my mechanical abilities is thrown at me.) They both are too complicated and packed into a maze of wires and excess plumbing.

I hope you live near a distributor that knows how to work on it.

Your chances of finding a competent mechanic is better with the older, over engineered machine (Prochem), since it's been out long enough to build a larger network of EXPERIENCED mechanics.

The newer over engineered machine (Sapphire) has to depend on folks like Jim to handle their long distance trouble shooting.

Jim's a good
Man , but he can only handle so many calls at once.

By the way Jim, I talked to a Sapphire owner from that other board today. He'll be contacting you about his pressure problems.

He should've bough an Amtex.

the 570 is not a over engineered machine...it is less complicated then most would consider my Thermalwave to be.....was less.....
as far as phone calls on these machines...only 2 different people have contacted me about things and one of them was more out of the norm from a basic set up..it was never a machine issue.....

the guys you are talking about that are going to contact me are not really having bad issues...but...they are getting bad advice......they are both running 370's..........

Rick said the same about the 570.

I have 2 Prochem 405 I do most of my own work on them, but yes a good mechanic is priceless when its a big fix which is rare.

I know the Apex had issues originally because of belt problems needing replacement often, but it was an rpm issue thats been fixed.

I think the SS570 has a better CFM rating too.

408 blower with 455 cfm over the apex which is the same blower running at 408 cfm.

Probably because the 570's being spun faster which if true could cause more wear.

Everybody always says prochem under spins their blowers!

Lastly and really important the 570 takes up a lot less space, its foot print is way smaller which is huge if you carry a ton of crap.

The Apex is 8 inches wider

Needless to say I've looked a lot at both these machines I'm leaning towards the 570, If and when I need another machine.

Sam Rick said the 570 would be the machine he would choose if he were replacing a PC 405. It will be the closest in power and performance. Like you when that time comes we will have to take a serious look at it. I like the narrow fooprint on all their units.

pulsating hose.and water pressure problems...

As in too much water pressure, pushing the waterbox float down and causing the machine to dump water?

I'm from the Middle East. We practically believe everything.

After all, we invented three religions. Didn't we?
