leaks in vac hoses. I had one where it connects to the waste tank.
Check them frequently.

The only time I had that happen it was just a few days before Christmas. Ambient outside air was 65 degrees and it started raining on the way to the job. The problem turned out to be a filter. newbie hadn't checked the basket, and noone had checked up on newbie. 2 people at fault. We swooped in with airmovers to speed up drying process when custy called the next day, and after it was dry we refunded our first and so far last very unhappy customer.
