They worship them.
My sister has one and my nephew has one. I grew up with them in my house.
My feelings about them are less than charitable. I'd rather have a girlfriend who smoked than one who owned a cat.

My aunt had 29 cats when she passed away. They had free access to come and go as they pleased through a pet door. It cost over $30,000 to decontaminate the house and get rid of the odor and fleas.
