What's the longest you can recall a custy going between jobs?

lately we have had a number of "old ones" call in.

Several at six years, one at nine, an the record so far as I recall, eleven years, and yeah, the same carpets.

but hey, their callin' right!

Usually anything after 2 years gets taken out of the mix. Not sure I have had anyone longer than that.

It would be an interesting marketing study to find out if they have gone that long without cleaning, or if they used another service during that time span.

If they "left you" for another service, what was the reason that they originally strayed?

And then, why did they come back?

It might be a very instructive, if somewhat unpleasant, exercise.

I had them go as long as 5-7 years. In the retirement area in which I lived many had gone 20+ years without ever cleaning.....and there carpets weren't that bad! Figure no kids, little traffic, usually fastidious housekeepers. They eat at the dining room table, not the living room couch. It just didn't need cleaned again for 5 years.

Some would tell me that they had tried someone who they had a coupon or ad for, but weren't happy with them for various reasons so they called me back. I actually encouraged those who called wanting me to pricematch a coupon or ad to go ahead and give the company a try, if they did they were almost always back for the next cleaning.

Take care,
Lisa

I have a customer who says each time, "It's been what, three years since you were last here?" She's dead serious.

We go every six months like clock work. She just doesn't seem to remember.

plenty of 5 to 7's.

had one earlier this week who thought it was 6 years, but turned out to be 11 months.

I hate to see my customers go senile.

C'mon Jim! You know damn well I asked them all that, i don't mind the answers, after all, they did call us back again regardless, so how bad could the answer be? :?

It's the ones that DON'T call you back that will kill ya.

Most, just saw no need for service again up to that point, a few fall for the "so and so referred _________, but I don't know I just wasn't happy with the job" I usually do ask why, so I can avoid those mistakes myself, but they usually say it was just "the job they did", or "oh, he only did it part time", usually nothing quantifiable.

Hey Walt...you should move that lady to once a week!

I had a neighbor of one of my regular clients have me look at his carpet when he moved in....then just called a month ago for cleaning...it had been 12 years.

He thought it was 'unhealthy' to clean carpets! Retired professor/brainiac. He insisted I use Prochem Axiom cleaners...because they have the Designed for Enviroment approval. Cleaned up nicely!

Had a lady last week, we clean her first floor every year or two, this time she splurged and did the up stairs bedrooms too! Only been 20 years! since it was new, NEVER cleaned!

I told her, "once every 20 years, whether it needs it or not huh?"

I just sucked some water from a hallway for a lady. Lived there for 21 years and never had them cleaned. Just wanted the hall and no more. White carpet and it didn't look bad.

11-08-1998 to 11-09-2009. 11 years shy 1 day. she lost her husband, don't have too many in to visit but her daughter was the one that pushed it. She's in her 80's and sensitive regarding cleaning solutions.
Off white nylon carpet 34 years old. Planet guard traffic lane cleaner and rinse with planet guard in a portable Olympus(high rise building). It came out beautifully.
