Well thought I'd give an update on Jim Pembertons class. I think a few people around here need to go take it too.

I feel very fortunate to have taken this class. Jim is an amazing teacher, it is no wonder why most everyone in the class had traveled great lengths to attend.

All hands on training, very organized with agendas and follow up discussions to insure everybody learned from each other. My brain was hurting but Everybody was really sucking up the info. Jim has a great way of pacing the class so you can just keep going and understanding. I learned lots of tricks and gadgets but I ain't sharing except distilled water rocks, lol.

Plus we had a great group with 6 FPA distributors with Katie Pettyjohn Ruether being one of them. Cool to see a Pemberton and a Pettyjohn working on a peice of furniture together. Also it was good to meet a fellow Mikey's board member Justin Foulk, let's see that truck Justin.

Thank you Scott, as with all classes, the students are who really "make" the class.

We had a wide variety of cultures in the class as well, from Jimmy "Gooch" Mckenzie and his West Virginia mountain wisdom to Kyle Bowers and his northern California state of mind, and everyone in between.

Did Maudi Atkinson donate that Davenport?

Connie is far sweeter than Maudi, but yes in the same age group. Having a sofa that bleeds to alkaline and acid products, but stayed stable in a neutral solution with some additives was a good challenge for the class.

You want to be blown away, take his upholstery class. A few years ago I cleaned a sofa that belonged to JFK before he was elected president. I thought of Jim when I was cleaning this piece of garbage that their former George Town neighbor thinks should be in the Smithsonian.

" Sometimes people have unrealistic ideas about the value of their furniture and what you can do on really old upholstery. Pass on those jobs if you can't educated them a bit".

The three cleaners that passed on the job clearly have a higher IQ than I.

Jims class is great, but the value from gaining his email and attention are better than anything. He helped me out with his expertise several times before he knew who I was. It's not just 2 days of teaching you get from jim, it's the indefinite confidence that you have his knowledge to back you up.

Never mind all the acrobatics of the class…how was the breakfast and lunches? That's the real tell tell of it all.

I also fear I'm too old (@65) to take Jim's class, and was thinking of sending a young'n (36-38).

Argh, I'd be jealous or 2nd guessing either way.

Lets go together Lee. Maybe Loren can join us. It will be a hoot.
Never too old. One or two sofas that we passed on (or should have passed on) will pay for the cost of the class.

Never too old Rick. The moment I feel that I know it all, that's the time to retire. Maybe I will after Jim's class, as surely, when I'm done, I'll feel like I know it all!

Nah. Just slow down a little and not book as many per day. Which possibly is still more than quite a few.
