House will be empty may 3. Carpet is low pile shag in a medium mint green. The house had a cat and dog. 3 bedrooms living room and a 20x20 separate office. On Be set of straight stairs treads and risers. Carpet has quite a bit of sun damage and fading so I am not looking for miracles. Just want it hygienic clean. maybe reduce the wear patterns. Looking for quotation prior I can be there on the 6th before noon or seventh to meet .

Go in with the black light 1st thing.
My guess is it has noticable pet odor either kind at nose height.

Traffic lanes will be drag Mark's that are black from the Senoir shuffle the last 10yrs.

Love those under promise and hope to over deliver realtor jobs.

Be sure and ask how many pets there bringing with them.

I don't see all that many red flags and flashing caution lights. The person seem quite reasonable.

Quote your regular price structure (I do not go in person) with qualifiers. Something like- If we have to correct pet urine damage that will add......and.......

What an optimist! 🙂

I'm pretty sure it will go well for you. Its doubtful they have unrealistic expectations. Latent odor problems are unlikely.

However should it all go South on you, just chalk it up to a human nature experiment. 😉

Oddly enough the only thing hat throws up red flags for me is "mint green"......every time I see that color its faded and dingy and cleaning doesn't help

I know...different fibers and can't go by color blah blah....but every time

same with light blue

but it looks like they realize that and just want it "cleaned"

I'd get to what his definition of Hygienic Clean is real quick.

No kidding. By dictionary definition, "Hygienic" and "Clean" are the same words, and thus one or the other is superfluous. But "hygeinic" infers a more personal level of clean, and perhaps they mean they want it disinfected (impossible on a textile). It could also mean someone involved has a Ladwig-like revulsion of the furred gods we call pets, and they want any remaining evidence of them having lived there eradicated.

That's where Monique's ability to see things with a critical eye will come in handy.

She'll figure this one out.

You guys been around too long :winky:

Or listened to and or immersed yourself in too many "war" stories.
Here is your simple 5 step (saved you the 12!) "chicken little" plan of action and guideline for life:
  1. Lighten up.
  2. Kick the bitterness.
  3. The client is not, repeat- NOT the enemy.
  4. ......cover your ass in the super rare event that he/she is.
  5. Repeat.

What is different about this request? All calls follow the same pattern:

1. Are you available?
2. Minimize my problems.
3. Dismissive request in vague terms.
4. Unspoken hope for a miracle.
5. Defensive posture on price.

Just unbox some of that patented reassurance and go earn your nickel.

Nicely put.

I agree.

I still don't trust this one. I didn't say I wouldn't reply; I just would be sure to make sure there are clear understandings on the expectations.

Someone saying they want a hygienic clean is referring to the fact that they dont expect all of the stains to come out they just wish to see an improvement and feel like it got a bath so to speak. This potential customer only cared about price in the long run.

I've been surprised by a few customers I thought would never call back due to prices.

Sometimes they call back after others fail to make them feel confident in their service.

Or they call to fix it and want the original price.

I got s call from a lady that needed it done before Sunday. I told her i had an opening on Friday but that was my only spot. Told her my minimum price and she had to think about it.
