A customer came in today asking for a replacement 27 HP Kohler. His engine was locked up.
We checked around, and found a replacement.
After pulling the van into the service bay, the mechanic noticed some excess liquid around the oil dipstick.
After some further checking, the oil was overfilled.
Turns out the mechanical fuel pump diaphram failed, and the crankcase had filled to the point that the engine locked up.
We replaced the part and the customer was quite happy that the repair cost had gone down about $1600.
