What's the lightest carpet wand out there? I'm looking at "U.S. Products, Evolution AW97 - 1.5" and 6.5 lbs - currently have a Prochem 4 jet at 11.5lbs with a glide. (I have 5 bulging discs in my back and really want to cut the wand weight). Your thoughts?

As mentioned, it's not about the weight of the wand. You will still have the same exact problem with a lightweight wand and to top it off: it won't even clean as well.
The repetitive motion of wanding and perhaps not good enough physical fitness is what kills you.

I broke my back 15 years ago. Had mega sore back problems with my first wand (greenhorn). Years later I purchased the Prochem Ergonomic TI wand. Back problems were gone in 1 month. Been running that wand 5 years now and the back never hurts even after a long days work. Its expensive, but back surgery is a lot more.

I simply HAVE to call bulletin board hype on the zipper is easier on your back BS. It simply isn't.

Unless all you clean is commercial.

And if all you clean is commercial, you don't need to be worried about your wand. You need to be encapping instead.
I told you... Dumb ass!

My arms and shoulders are killin me. Yes, I have a helper, but I also need to rinse. Been thinking about a Zipper, but not convinced it would be easier on arms and shoulders. Looks like Marty's going to have one for sale.

My back is much better since I started using an inversion table about a year ago.

I'm proud of you $Marty, to see that you have seen the light my son.

Go in peace and don't scampoo, oops, scamper off to far.

I'm lucky & glad to be so young, fit & healthy with non of the above problems. :very_drunk:

Keep your joints well lubricated and don't get dehydrated, helps me. :stir:

I don't think it's a coincidence that my decades long back (herniated disk:frown:) and shoulder (bursitis:icon_neutral:) pains have been all but eliminated since I started using the 360i on the bulk of my jobs these last few years. You pretty much remove the repetitive motion trauma. I'll be sixty this month, and after 40 years of this work, essentially working by myself, instead of being broken down and pathetic, I work without pain or fatigue all day long:headbang:.

It's just too early to tell. Fighting with the hoses takes some getting used to, and the urge to do dry passes is too strong. Doing dry passes slows me down to the point that I am not sure I am saving time. It takes time for me to jump on a bulletin board band wagon.

He's learning to like it. He's 5'9" and has a bull strong back. Plus, he has me keeping the hoses out of the way for him. And, our residential prices are high enough that doing the dry passes does not have much of a negative effect on our profit margins. In commercial, we work alone, or separate from each other and the pricing is more competitive.

Getting an inversion table is the best thing I have ever done for my back. Decompression and natural re-alignment. Has saved my back more times than I can count.
