I've never seen anything like it, I tried using their leaf blower and my Royal on them but the dust would just not stop coming out. Getting them wet would have been a disaster. A giant cloud that I can still smell and feel in my hair exploded as I dropped the 1st rolled rug on her back porch.

No way.

Ive been desperately trying to find a real rug shop in the area and so far all I can find is this company.

They are a notorious bait and switch for wall to wall. but being the ONLY shop with the ability to handle the 30 footer AND has a Centrifuge, I had to refer them. I called on the owners behalf to ask a few questions. $2.10 for any rug with free pick up and delivery, even 1:20 minutes away like these rugs..:eekk:

My advice was to tell her to talk to the rug manager, tell him that you insist on paying twice their normal rate but don't want to see one fleck of dust when they are brought back and dropped on the floor.

Monahan and Paula want me to become one of "them".....

I feel your pain. :hopeless:

There's a lot of dust here, and it shows even more in those homes where people think, "Oh I'll just tear this carpet out and put laminate or tile in so I don't have to pay someone to clean my floors."

There's also a lot of cleaners here, but not a lot of good honest ones.

It seems in warmer climates, more people have hard floors and area rugs. If you have a shop oe even a decent sized garage, you can start doing rugs as a sideline. You have to make sure you charge enough for your travel time, (maybe draw up a route) and don't let interfere with your more profitable jobs. You don't have to deliver immediately. Let your custies know that for proper cleaning, it takes 2-3 weeks. Gives you enough leeway to pick up and deliver when you are in the area.

You could do it and clean rugs whenever you want and not need to clean carpet any longer.

The question is, does the population justify the purchase?

Without enough rug clients you go from "rug snob" to "rug sap" fast.

Although, Lockhart would be glad to buy your lightly used setup for pennies on the dollar. :winky:

Having spent 30+ years as a retailer, I am with Mikey on this one. When he has a slow week and only jobs on Monday and Thursday he doesn't have to wait around the shop for more work to come in---he can go swimming or biking. A rug shop when it is slow would be no fun waiting for customers to walk through the door. Whereas a carpet cleaner when it is slow may not have any money but will have free time.
