The rotary extractor discussion a few days ago got me thinking, so I did an experiment. I cleaned with the RX20 as per the usual arrangement, even ran it over everything dry to give it the best chance possible.

Then I ran the zipper over it just to see what comes out.

Holy crap. That’s a ton of water.

But that rotary cleans that 1/8" pile of carpet so much better

Should I keep harassing about the rotary?

Maybe the rotary users are just making excuses for spending that much money on a useless tool. They don't want to look like idiots, so they need to keep talking good about the tool.

What machine is extracting with the RX20?

PSI?
Hose run?

It all plays a part in how dry you want to leave the carpet.. Yes you can always pull out moisture, but you have to also think of how much moisture your putting down as well..

2" all the way?

Ever try 4-2-door? 50' of 2" after that? 2.5" hose?

I've tried it all, 2.5" directly to the rv360i/xl-- ZipperJr, wand.. To me bottom line is doing the best job you can, in a reasonable amount of time while being profitable..

I'd turn down the pressure to 250-300psi, the agitation is more than enough to get it clean with less pressure.. I remember Harper in Florida was running 2.5" to the head of the RX20 for faster dry times..

It's kind of a given that carpets will take longer to dry if it needed a RE to begin with..
