I encapped a nylon carpet (NOT SDN), the other day.

Two days later the owner phones and say's there's a problem.

Could not see anything during pre-inspection, but it now looks like the color has been bleached out.

Any ideas what it may be.??

Shorty.did you take the picture or did the customer??? To me it looks like powdery residue. Does the Bleaching come from the bottom up or top down.

Did the Encap product that you used contain peroxide? I have seen peroxide react with some over the counter products resulting in color loss, pink, or purple bleached spots.

Bleach that was already there waiting for water to hit before it did its thing. Ive had a couple residential jobs do that. Customer admitted using a spotter like resolve or something .

I took the photo.

I then rinse and extracted the area with no change with my spotting machine.

The Lady assures me that nothing was done to the carpet.

There had been water damage in two areas where there was a slight browning in the typical wave pattern in a semi circle, these had been sprayed over with Chemox and buffed.

( Chemox is a product that contains Hydrogen Peroxide. [FONT=&quot]Chemox is used as an additive for specialised Sonitron Detergents to improve performance. )[/FONT]

In both areas the browning was removed.

The marks were outside of the area that was sprayed.

As both areas were so small, the Chemox was added to a 500ml trigger sprayer and filled with water in the adjacent bathroom.

50ml Chemox to 400ml water.

Correct spray pattern was adjusted in the hand basin prior to application.


After buffing, the entire area was then encapped.

PS:: As this was up two flights of stairs, the Chemox was added down at the van, so no spillage, etc;

Shorty it's just a really weird pattern doesn't look like spray or poured spotter. Does it smell? Bleachy?
