Mystery bleach spots on brown carpet

Another post reminded me of something that happened a couple of years ago.

Medium brown carpet, very soiled. I was cleaning with BOK Liquid fiber Glow boosted with SP - scrubbed with rotary. Rinsing with soft water. Cleaning up awesome, except every few feet there was a bleachspot. The more I rinsed (with water) the lighter it would get.

Was it improper color repair i was pulling out? Spotter they had sprayed down? Is there any way to know for sure?

I some something similar recently. It turned out that the woman was using oxy-clean as a carpet spotter for her cat who was erping on the carpet often.

acne creams (benxoil peroxide) sp?.. will do that too, as i understand it

they won't bleach til the water/rinse

we've had the situation you described happen once that I know about.
It was in a carpeted bath room

acne cream was suggested as the most likely culprit

Like Larry said I've seen actual bleached out foot prints following cleaning. We were lucky because she admitted she had been using the cream and acknowledged it was her fault and not ours. She had towels she had wiped the cream on and it stripped the color out of them also.

Had the shape not been distinguishable and had she not had the previous bleaching, she could have tried to blame us.
