Mytee pump

works great but won't shut off. I have a garden hose line on the end which you can open and water flows straight through. No air in the line. I even have a shut off valve after the pump. Zero leaks. Pump runs but doesn't show any signs of shutting off. Any bright ideas. I emphasize bright with this group. Doesn't matter where I adjust it. Also with water not moving it should just shut off regardless of the adjustment. Factory set at 45. I assume the red lead is positive but since the directions don't say it must not matter.

1/4 - 1/2 -3/4 full turn in didn't matter. Then back to zero and then the reverse, didn't matter

Fred, read my post a little more careful. It pumps water just fine. It won't shut off when no water is being used. Ever. This is the relabeled aquatec water systems pump with the filter.

can only be the switch in my eyes. A new pump is unlikely to have a hole plus it pumps to it capacity just fine.

Sorry I'm not replacing anything. It's a brand new pump. Just pulled it from the box. Maybe a 8' run of 12 gauge wire isn't big enough. Still should just shut off. I'll test that tomorrow. It 10 pm here and I've been working all day solo. It will wait.

Must be defected, have them send you a new one. We have been using 2 of them with no problems.

This makes three new things that were broke. Mytee pump, harwil float switch and acme cash pressure reducer. Every thing comes in threes I guess.

Ok I guess I'm an idiot. It's a bypass pump so when the pressure builds it just bypasses internally. If the water gets hot enough maybe then it shuts off finally. Makes me a little nervous that it always runs but whatever. The shurflo would run slower as the pressure increased and then shut off. We will see how long it lasts. I guess mytee will warrantee it if it dies. I'm running 12 gauge for 8' maybe since it runs constant I should increase it.

Personally, I never liked the internal bypass pumps with plastic headed housings. Never thought they lasted as long. I remember back in the 80's doing some field testing with ShurFlo back then. They introduced those style pumps into the market and pulled back somewhat. Instead, they continued to promote the "on-demand" style (in this particular Industry) for a good reason.

Having stated that, I am guessing (knowing a little history of both brands) that that particular pump brand is a decent one and is similar to the ShurFlo expectations as well.

Not so much Ed, it didn't make it one hour before it died. Haven't had time to see what happened but I felt it and it was cool. I only checked the breaker and the wires to make sure they didn't somehow get pulled loose. I'll diagnose the problem tomorrow or Saturday. I hate sending stuff back . I always feel guilty for some reason.

Strange, unless mytee changed something this is the one me and my father use. They definitely prime and shut off.

They no longer make that pump. It now is bypass only. Evidential they were having problems with the pressure switch so they changed the design. I'm curious to see how durable it is. It quit on Thursday due to a low voltage problem. The line voltage dropped to 9 which won't run the pump. Possible a ground issue.

Sorry I thought I closed this thread. The pump no longer has a demand switch. So yes it will run continuously. It bypasses the water inside. The reason the pump quit was because a diode blew. It's been running just fine. I don't think about it anymore, it just does what it does. I still don't like the idea that it doesn't shut off but that's how it's engineered. Time will tell which works better.
