My new step grandkid is THE car detailer for a large carwash here in town......since he's getting married to my granddaughter here soon......i've talked him into detailing on the side......
it's taking off like a wild fire.......he does two or three cars a day on his days off! he has to go to the local Quarter car wash to do this........
can anyone recommend a small porty that would work for him to get started.....?

ohh.......inexpensive is the key word here!

how much does he have to spend??

he needs a good shopvac first
I think damn near all HD Rigid brand power tools are over priced CRAP except their shopvacs, which are the best..better than Shopvac brand actually.
tell him not to cheap out...get the $79 or up priced one

for a porty, he's going to have to buy used or spend $1200-$1500 for new if wants something that won't be a toy

Ha ha that's a good one! she has an 8 month old little girl and knocked up about 6 months again...he's a good guy and working two jobs PLUS this detailing gig.....she's clipping coupons and making diaper "cakes" for baby parties....they're BOTH really trying so far.........

so to answer the question.....it'll prolly be ME that's buying this machine so he can get started....
if i could swing it, i'd build him a Genie and take all CRASH'S business...what's left!

then pay attention to me instead of being so obstinate
who told you about the DeWalt??.hmm???

If you're going to spend $500 on a used POS spotter, pony up another buck and buy a bran'new EDIC Bravo

if you want a used POS spotter, I'll sell you this one
http://www.jondon.com/refurb-e-z-spot-3gl-tank.html
(exact same model, different label)

I'll sell it to YOU for dirt cheap...the cost of a tank of gas to come and get it.
if you expect me to dig it out of the corner, box it up and ship it...I want a two hunnert

but I'm telling you, the kid needs a real porty..not a spotter

Have a look at our Gecko. Small, efficient, and very affordable! These units are popular for spotting and upholstery. Will work very well for car detailing too. In fact we've sold a few for that.

That's a good price, Rick...but It's the same poorly designed spotter most all the disty's carry.(JonDon, Interlink, etc) ..just different labels and colors
(I have one, and Bob will too if he comes and gets it)

the Bravo kicks it's azz in every way...ergos, ease of fill and drain, better vac and pump

The kid needs a "real" porty..it'll be MUCH more versatile and he'll actually be able to clean carpet$$$ too

Yo Bob...fill the tank with gas and come down here.
You might even leave with a "real" porty

i have one of these buried in the corner too

could use some new vacs and a pump..but it's a "real" porty he won't have to dump 'n fill a half dozen times to clean a soccer mom's minivan

I'm surprised no one told him to Encap with a drill/brush combo..... Now that's cheap.....!

Definitely a good accessory to have along with the porty, especially since he will most likely only have cold water available so chems and agitation will help compensate....... a Cyclo would be the way to go.

How much accessible power can he "borrow" at the location?

Bogdan Wolynetz will get his eyebrows all in a twist if he finds out he's moonlighting on the side.
