NEED ADVICE:
Customer spilled a cup of coffee on a off-white wool carpet (custom palace size VERY expensive) & I cleaned it with the usual safe products. Big improvement but still visible. They'd like to have me try some more - - they're happy to pay but I only want to go back if I bring something else to try. Been doing this 35 years & I'm somewhat knowledgeable but hey - educate me...what can I try that's safe??

Tannin style coffee stain remover or brown out. Apply with a coarse spray, let dwell 5-10 minutes. Rinse with a neutral or slightly acidic rinse agent. You can re-apply the tannin remover lightly and leave it to evaporate.

40 years cleaning here and for some reason never came across coffee on wool. couple weeks back was the first time. Ordered some coffee stain remover for wool and applied it as stated above. did not do a thing.

Are you a rug washing business or are you trying to fix this rug on site at the customer's home

UV light helps if it's stubborn.. I haven't had a problem with multiple applications.....but it requires various trips..

Sani-Bright is big on UV

A reducer like Red Vanish may help but you have to keep an eye on it. It may pull color from a wool carpet. Let it dwell then rinse, repeat if necessary.
