Any one have any experience with using Spinergy Pads (Bridgepoint) for polishing stone? I have a set of the 5" pads for doing counter tops and showers and such. I have been using a hand polisher that has a low setting of 1500rpm. The Spinergy pads only call for the speed of a low speed floor machine, so around 350rpm. They seem to work, but not that well, and I'm thinking it is because my rpm is way too fast. Anyone have any advice for a machine?

I am a huge advocate of low speed polishing, but with fixed abrasives you want to find a balance. Go too slow and you're more likely to show tool marks or trails. The Makita 9227C is probably your best bet and is great for all around polishing

We have them here

If you want to go really low, the Milwaukee 5540 will come to a complete stop depending how hard you push down on it.

these are the only two machines I use.

I also like the Makita 9227C. A variable speed setting is best you need to be able to get down to 600 RPM for starting the lower grits. As you continue you can raise the speed somewhat.
