Need heat exchange for older Prochem Legend SE

I bought a van from a business that had sold out and it has an older Prochem Legend and the heat exchanger must have frozen. Any ideas where to get one or have this one repaired? I've attempted to attach a picture. Thanks for any help.

I'd call the Pembertons. Repaired, try a radiator shop. When we would freeze a pre-heater we usually bought a new one.

Thanks Richard. I've also thought about just eliminating the heat exchangers and putting in a fuel fired heater. I might just forget about the pump mechanism all together and turn it into an extraction machine. It's 17 years old so I don't want to put a lot of money into it.

On the big units you can bypass them and still get decent heat from the helicoil not on the little ones.

I think I still have one but I'm not sure if it would fit a Legend. ???

Just call me and we can get it sent out. Your not repairing that unless it was split on one of the bends and even then it doesn't hold for for long

I do have one that was collecting dust in our store room. Not sure if it would fit though, it's for a Performer and I'm not familiar enough with the Legend to know if they are same size. Its prior to the SE so that could make a difference too. ???

Prochem has manuals online.

Look up the Performer part # first.

Then check the manual for your machine for that part #.

If they are the same, then talk to Richard.

If not than a call to Prchem service dept to check the differences.

At 17 years old, I would not spend a lot to repair the TM.

Yea 17 is old.

Does it heat up with just the catalytic? It might just take longer to get to operating temps and may not stay as hot when you flow water hot but if warm water will get you by then maybe no need to stick new parts in an old unit. ???

John Olson has ordered me one for a great price. The one you posted the picture of looks the same, but I don’t know if it would fit or not. I’d have to bypass the old exchanger to see if it heats with just the other one as this one leaks like a bass turd.

Cool! Yea I couldn't be sure either.

It may only fit the bigger machines, I'm not even sure if when this one was made. At one point they went to more common parts across the line but this could be prior.

Lockhart tells the truth, I just hide it well.

Need to pay that guy some hush money I guess!

I've got two Chemtex machines in my shop that came with a van I bought last year. A 20-45 and a 27-47, both with HX like yours. One end of the marine exhaust to to the engine exhaust and the other curls back to return through the frame tube to exit out the front, one on each side.

I've not tried to start them, I'm a diehard 4cyl guy.

You live in beautiful country, I've been there several times.
