Well unfortunately although similar in appearance, it's completely different ...

I went and HWE’d the Chapel this morning at my church. I started off wanding it but ended up using my Zipper and a back brace.
I've been going to physical therapy for the past several weeks and ever since I've been stretching my hips, my lower back pain has almost disappeared.

Easy stretches at home if you want to try it out for a few weeks

Do you don your chapeau whilst invigorating your flexibility?

I’ve always been very pigeon toed in my walking

My feet were telling me they’re tired of walking that way and a nerve was getting pinched in the top of my foot that caused pain that nearly crippled me. I could barely walk from the terrible pain.

Physical therapy has been helping greatly

Our industry is so much different that it was when I was a kid.

Back when cleaners either hauled portables that were as portable as a refrigerator on wheels, or pushed carpet wands that were heavy as barbells, cleaners had employees doing the work by the time they reached their 40s. I think my father did his last on location cleaning jobs in the early 70s, but kept the cleaning company for another 20 years.

Truck mounts with lighter wands, glides, and ramps for OP machines have enabled senior citizens to stay in the cleaning game themselves, some into their 80s.

I don't know if that's been good or bad in the long run, but I know I never had a guy helping push a carpet wand on a truck mount demo who was over 45 back when I lived on the road in the 80s and early 90s.

.....of course back then, I thought 45 was old...

I think it’s a good thing Jim. If I’m going to be a miserable old prick, I might as well fulfill that calling working than be at home bothering the wife.

A guy in his late 50's comes to be about 10 years ago to get started in the carpet cleaning business.

While it isn't unusual today for guys his age to make this decision, I did ask him why.

He said:

"My wife makes more than enough for us both, and mostly works from home. After my job as a union electrician was discontinued, she got tired of having me around the house. She said "Find something to do, keep whatever money you make, but you cannot be in the house with me all day or I will divorce you!"

Thus was born a cleaning business as a marriage savior.

The rest of the story is even better, but I will save that for another time.

If you have back issues, it don’t matter what you use. Even the zipper will hurt. I pushed a Cimex over 10k and it hurt me more than ever😏 My grandson moved chairs.

There’s an orthopedic on YouTube who stopped practicing because he says modern medicine is not about a cure but about money. He “says” there’s a way to reverse it but I’ve not looked into it.
I have got rid of a lot of pain with salt but I will never heal completely. But my low back pain is gone for now. Salt pills did heel my kidneys though. I don't sweat as much much and muscles don't fatigue as fast.

Find a good Chinese massage place not a hand job place. The guys at our mall are incredible. Not all of them but a handful.

It's your muscles causing the pain I bet. They tighten up and pull things together to tightly. You have to get the knots out.
Prednisone helps a lot too. My neurologist said all it does it turn the immune system off so your body can heal itself.

What kind of brace do you use Marty? I'm having problems walking without seizing up. I'm staying away from surgery as long as I can.

I’m not going out to my van to take a picture of it but it’s a $450 brace I got after my back surgery. Of course, it probably would cost about $75 if insurance wasn’t paying for it.

What about degenerative disc disease sounds like muscle spasms to you?
Did I say muscle spasms?
I'm talking about receiving the pressure on the disks. But do what you want. You won't be the only person who doesn't believe me.

Where does it say spasms?
I'm talking about knotted muscles. Muscles that are not getting blood flow and that cause pain. That low back pain neck pain the feeling of whiplash stiffness.
