We have A new lady who cleans our house and I came home the other day and it looked good but it didn't SMELL clean. For some reason it really bothered me. I just didn't feel like she did as good as the other lady even though it looked really good.

My question is, is there any product that I could put in my rinse or spray on afterwards to leave the carpet smelling good for a pretty long time and not leave a residue.

I tested Odoban and essential oils yesterday on my tile and they both left a nasty residue. Most products I can buy at the local Interlink say they need to be rinsed.

I Have also heard of soaking some small pieces of wood in a scent and placing them around the house but that seems a little ghetto.

Any ideas would be awesome! Thanks!

For reference I use either Prozyme or extreme clean as Pre spray and rinse with either white lightning or Flex ice.

I add a little mint deodorizer to my prespray. Leaves a fresh scent that disappears in a day or two. You don't need anymore than that. Once it's in their mind, they will associate it your cleaning. Lemon or floral can work well also.

There are a few scents we've picked up from Jon Don you can add (Matrix). Some don't want heavy smell, so we ask them if they would like it and they can choose the one they want. Clean Fresh is popular as well as the lemon and mountain fresh.

I use a fresh scent on every cleaning job by metering it in at the truckmount during the cleaning process. That way it is evenly distributed throughout the entire job and you don't have to worry about putting too much down.

A little bit goes a long way.

I use Proliminator Sunshine scent.

Most of the comments have been about adding a scent to your pre-spray right? Doesn't the smell rinse out with the extraction process? At least the ones I've tried have.

As a BDPH, I like to add Hydrocide to the rinse water. It works marvelously to control residual smells. Maybe 1/4 normal concentration.

I meter mine as a rinse but sometimes I add it to the prespray also when I know I have areas that need more.

I'm not looking to leave a lasting odor. I want it to smell nice and clean while I am there. You don't want the odor to remain too long in my opinion.

Where's @Ofer Kolton when you need him? If it smells, it's unacceptable!

If it doesn't smell like tree hugging, tie dye wearing, hairy armpits women, with more mustache than me, and a vegetarian, it's unacceptable!

I'm here for you, buddy :winky:

I'd recommend that you ask the clients first, if they want a lasting odor (which it is to many). Your fragrance preference may not be theirs and many prefer no stink at all.

I hear Jimmy, is the most popular fragrances in Nebraska and surprisingly, of all places,.................. Topeka.

The fragrance is for me so I don't have to smell all the pee the whole time I'm there.

Sounds like the girl that cuts my hair. She placed one of those fragrance canisters on the counter right in back of her chair. It was overwhelmingly strong but she said she needed it to overcome the smell of all the old guys. She's young and pretty and maybe not sharp enough to realize she was talking to an old guy. She hasn't cut my hair this year as I have been going in on her day off. Maybe she will hear from her sister that I still come in for haircuts and put 2 and 2 together and kill the fragrance. She's still my barber but we must all be careful to make the customer happy and to hell with what we want or think.

I was being a smart ass but if they can stand the smell of their animals then our products should be an improvement. Not always but I usually warn customers of any strong fragrance products such as molecular modifier. It's part of the conversation of how I am going to resolve their issues.

I've been mixing a little odorcide fresh scent in a spray bottle for Genny. She uses it on laminate and tile entry ways at her apartment complexes. She really likes the fragrance and says it lasts the longest. She's tried sprays and tobac attack but likes this the best.

The matrix stuff dissipates fairly quickly and the scents are "light" if that makes sense.

A few years ago at The Experience there was a company marketing their "freshener". They used encapsulation in the formula. Really nice smell to it and the idea was to spray over the floor surface. Then when you walked on it the scent was released again as you "broke" the encapsulation. Not sure how well that worked, but the scent was really nice. Anyone know what that product was? I brought home a sample but we used it all at our house!

All of this "encapsulation" marketing of products is plain BS. And I can't believe some of you buy into this cereal box fantasy. But none the less...............you actually have someone clean your house? Really?

Brodie so you own a dog?
I do own a little yapper. We had to get a hypoallergenic dog since my daughter had allergies when she was younger and I hate the darn thing.

I'm not necessarily talking about trying to cover the scent at the pee hole houses and I'm Not wanting to leave an over bearing scent behind. I just noticed that my house "felt" cleaner to me when it smelled clean.

Ha.. No, my wife has someone clean our house and it's been happening less and less lately. Which I'm fine with.
